A new and better access has risen to make Bataan more accessible. Only one and a half hours of smooth, wide roads from Manila via the very modern Northern Luzon Expressway. Enter the province of Pampanga first via San Fernando where you can take a quick merienda in one of the various fastfood outlets in the area. Bus companies, plying the 124 km route, also service the commuting public from Manila to Bataan.

Soon, an ultra-modern highway linking Clark to Subic will make Bataan even more accessible to more cities, allowing more commuters to reach heir destination in no time at all.

Enter the province of Bataan via Dinalupihan, which is 101 kilometers away from Manila. If there’s no heavy traffic in San Fernando, which is usually a choke point for travelers going North, enter Bataan after around one (1) hour on the road.

From there, Balanga City- the capital of the province is around twenty (20) kilometers away. Getting around the province is never a problem, mini-buses and jeepneys service the transporting public of Bataan. These mini-buses utilize the routes from the City of Balanga to the nearby towns in the province. Most of these buses depart every 15-30 minutes providing travelers with convenient transportation.

In addition, tricycles play an important role in servicing the commuters within the town and nearby municipalities.

Also, the Mariveles-Bagac-Morong backdoor road network is being developed which will lead to majestic mountain sights and an incredibly breathtaking stretch of the South China Sea reaching Anvaya Cove, a resort-leisure development of Ayala Land.

Driving through the roads of Bataan is still the best mode of seeing the province, historical sites and its various tourist spots.

The province has an extensive coastline with 11 municipalities having marine boarders; there are about 14 tertiary parts, 2 of which are classified as national ports namely Port of Mariveles and Port of Orion.

By sea via ferry from the CCP Terminal in Roxas Blvd, Manila to the Diosdado Macapagal Ferry Terminal in Orion, 22.5 nautical miles or a convenient 45-minute trip will lead commuters to the bustling Orion port. For an affordable fee, one will be able to escape the traffic jam of land travel and feel the refreshing sea breeze and the splendor of Manila Bay.

One could reach Bataan in just a few minutes by air, having several private helipads in the province. There are also two international airports at both ends of the province: the world-class Clark International Airport and the equally recognized Subic Bay International Airport. Both offer facilities that can easily accommodate 25 million passengers annually from the international and domestic market.

OTHER FACTS:

CLIMATE. Tropical, hot and humid. Temperatures average 25 – 30 °C with heavy rainfall from June to September.

CLOTHING. Smart casual and light are recommended. An umbrella and a raincoat are musts during the rainy season. On formal occasions, diner jacket and tie or the Philippine Barong Tagalog may be worn.

LANGUAGE/DIALECT. English, Pampango, Ilokano with Tagalog as the lingua franca.

TIPPING. Tipping is expected for many services. The standard practice is 10% of the total bill. Tipping is optional on bills that already include a 10% service charge.
