DA turns over P38M onion cold storage to Hermosa farmers

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. turned over last Thursday the P38 million onion cold storage facility to New Hermosa Farmers Association even as he pledged to put up soil laboratory in Bataan province.

In his speech at The Bunker after the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the Department of Agriculture and the municipal government of Limay, Sec. Laurel said he was very happy to see the project of Congresswoman Gila Garcia at the 1Bataan Farm where he was shown the agricultural produce from the farm using the drip fertigation system and precision farming. Seemingly impressed by the project, the DA top honcho is toying with the idea of adopting the Bataan experience in the national level. “Na- inspire ako,” he said. Congresswoman Garcia explained that in precision farming, farmers earn more than the traditional farming system. She said that the soil should not be taken for granted when it comes to farming. “Kaya po ang soil laboratory ay sinagot na ni Secretary at tayo po ay labis na nagpapasalamat sa kanya,” added Gila.

Sec. Laurel, Limay Mayor Nelson C. David Bataan Peninsula State University President Dr. Ruby S. Matibag signed a memorandum of agreement for the establishment of Limay Zero Km Food Project, and Limay Invests for Farmers’ Triumph (LIFT).The post DA turns over P38M onion cold storage to Hermosa farmers appeared first on 1Bataan.
