Gov. Abet celebrates with fire victims

For his birthday this year, Governor Abet Garcia chose to celebrate it with the residents of Brgy. Capunitan and Brgy. Daan Pare, with the assurance that he will continue to celebrate with them every year until they can transfer to their houses and experience a better quality of life through the opportunities that the 1Bataan Village offers.

Looking back, he started celebrating with the beneficiaries of the housing project after a big fire hit their village and razed their houses to the ground in 2019.
In 2020, a groundbreaking ceremony to formally start construction of their relocation, covered by the writ of mandamus for Manila Bay rehabilitation, was held, coinciding with Gov. Abet’s birthday celebration.

Last year, amid the pandemic, food packs were distributed to the beneficiaries to observe social distancing and ensure the safety of everyone amidst the threat of the coronavirus.
The 1Bataan Village-Orion will have a total of 2,936 units as well as necessary facilities such as a skills training center, fish-drying area, tricycle terminal, fisherman’s wharf, a school, and open parks to name a few.

Gov. Abet is also looking at the possibility of installing solar panels to lessen monthly electricity bills, other possible water sources and treatment plans, and ensuring internet connectivity through partnerships with telco companies.

This year’s celebration was graced by 2nd District Representative Joet Garcia, Orion Mayor Antonio Raymundo, Bataan Human Settlement Office (BHSO-PGO) headed by Mr. Chris Leonzon, and barangay officials of Daan Pare and Capunitan.
