The Santol River Bridge in Mariveles will be temporarily closed due to its worsening condition and to avoid accidents. Councilor Ronald Arcenal said the plan was announced in a recent meeting with the transport sector which was also attended by Mayor AJ Concepcion.

Arcenal is chairman of SB Committee on Transportation. He said DPWH and MDRRMO inspected the bridge on August 14 and recommended its temporary closure. Only light vehicles like tricycle and motorcycle are currently allowed to pass the bridge for safety.

The bridge is situated near the municipal hall. Arcenal said, “We are just waiting for final recommendation from DPWH when to close the bridge”.

It is expected that a new bridge will be constructed next year. The meeting was also attended by Sangguniang Bayan members Omar Cornejo, Vonnel Isip, and Jun Villapando, and Municipal Administrator Tito Pancho Catipon.
