Mayor Inton thanks ex-rebels

Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton thanked 40 former members of rebel movement in the province for denouncing communism and returning to the fold of law. Inton said during the regional consultation meeting of National Task Force to End Local Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) held recently at the Camp Tolentino that the former rebels are welcomed in the municipal hall of Hermosa to seek assistance.

He said some individuals from his municipality can attest to what he was saying that everyone is welcome to his office. Inton said itā€™s about time former rebels lived a peaceful life with relatives and loved ones. ā€œNapakasarap nang matulog sa bahay kasama mo ang iyong mga mahal sa buhay na walang kaguluhan,ā€ he said.

In that occasion, a former rebel identified only as ā€œKa Topherā€ testified that he was once a member of a militant group in Hacienda Luisita but now leading a peaceful life after realizing that the rebel movement could not provide a bright future for his family. Various government agencies offered their services to the former rebels.
