The tour was participated by newsmen from Bataan and Zambales of media outlets DZRH, NET25, iOrbitNews, Punto Central Luzon, Central Luzon Herald, 88.7 FM Olongapo, KFive Zambales, and Radyo Bandera. They were escorted by representatives from GNPD and GMEC in touring the two plants.
Prior to the tour, media men underwent safety orientation and wore necessary gears. Edgardo Cruz from GNPD Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department briefed the media on safety gears and reminders for plant visitors.
Mike Delara from the GMEC-OSH department gave instructions on the use of the protective gears. GNPD Deputy Plant Manager Young Comaad explained the operations and equipment employed by GNPD. Arthur Mercado, Operations Support Supervisor, also represented GMEC and introduced its operations, materials, and processes. Joey Chavez, Corporate Social Responsibility Manager of GMEC, updated media men on their initiatives on reforestation and rehabilitation of the forests in Mariveles and the scholarship program. Associate Vice President and Head of Community Relations Department Arcel Madrid said GMEC and GNPD launched plant tours to strengthen its relation to the press.
