P5M for Abucay rice farmers

Senator Imee R. Marcos brought five million pesos worth of aid to rice farmers in the town of Abucay, Bataan during her visit last Saturday for the 26th anniversary of KABAKA, a women’s group led by Bataan 1st District Congresswoman Geraldine Roman.

This is just one of the many blessings that the senator brought to the town of Abucay, along with the group’s participation in International Women’s Month this March.

KABAKA was founded by former Congresswoman Herminia Roman, mother of Cong. Geraldine, during the term of the late Congressman Tony Roman.

According to Abucay Mayor Robin Tagle, each rice farmer in his town will receive P5,000, but refused to provide further details as the process of distributing the funds is still ongoing.

Senator Marcos also distributed three thousand pesos to one thousand beneficiaries during the event through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

Before visiting Abucay, Senator Marcos also visited the Government Arsenal in Limay, Bataan, with Bataan Governor Joet Garcia and Bataan 2nd District Representative Abet Garcia.

“We discussed my proposal to bring back the Self-Reliant Defense Posture Program, a project of my father, President Ferdinand E. Marcos,” said Senator Imee Marcos on her official Facebook page.

This aid from Senator Marcos, Mayor Tagle told newsmen, comes as a welcome relief to rice farmers who have been struggling due to the effects of the pandemic and other challenges such as rising fuel prices, etc.

Senator Marcos also participated in a dialogue with young farmers and cooperatives from various parts of the province along with Congresswoman Roman, Bataan Vice Governor Cris Garcia, Gov. Joet Garcia and representatives from various government agencies.
