Trash to Cashback project launched

Bataan 3rd District Rep. Gila Garcia on Friday launched the Trash to Cashback project aiming to promote waste segregation and recycling.

Garcia said students will segregate trash in their houses and bring the recycled wastes to their respective schools. The project will be part of the Brigada Eskwela program in the district. Environmental System Technology Inc. will get the gathered trash for recycling. Garcia explained the trash collected will have corresponding environmental points. ā€œAng naipong environmental points mula sa recyclables na nakolekta ng mga estudyante ay pwedeng ipalit ng mga bagay, kasangkapan, at pangangailan ng bawat paaralan.ā€

Parents and barangay volunteers called eco warriors will assist schools in the implementation of the project. The congresswoman said as a token of appreciation to eco warriors, they will be given P2,000 food subsidy from DSWD. Sa proyektong ito mababawasan ang basura, maiiwasan ang baha dahil wala nang duming babara sa mga kanal, at magkakaroon ng malinis na hanginā€, said Garcia.

The project launching here was attended by the new EMB Region 3 Director Martin Jose Despi, Penro Raul Mamac, and DepEd Dinalupihan district officers. District 3 Board Members Jorge Estanislao, Popoy Del Rosario, Angel Sunga, and Harold Espeleta, and some Dinalupihan officials and barangay captains also joined the event. Rollie Rojas, chief of staff of the congresswoman, facilitated and served as emcee of the launching program. He said Garcia also launched the Trash to Cashback project in three other towns of the 3rd district namely, Morong, Bagac, and Mariveles.
